Israel: Russian tourists are in second place in the tourist flow

The growth of the tourist flow in 25% as a whole for the season 2017 was recorded in the Ministry of Tourism of Israel. In total, Israel was visited by 3.6 million tourists, which brought the Israeli economy 20 billion shekels.

Russia, meanwhile, took the second place in terms of the number of tourists. In the first place the United States - more than 700,000 tourists, which is 21% more than in 2016. Russia took the second place with 307,000 tourists, an increase of 26%. At the same time, the increase in tourism from Russia is due to the growth of routes and flights from Russia to Israel, including charter programs.

To attract tourists in Israel at the same time spent more than 440 million shekels. Including the Ministry of Tourism has provided grants and incentives for airlines that introduced routes to Israel. 250,000 grants were provided for new direct weekly routes that land at Ben Gurion Airport (up to three flights per week) from a destination from which there were no flights to Israel before. The program of flights to Eilat, compensates 45 euros for a passenger landing at Ovdy airport. Currently, as part of the winter campaign, there are 50 weekly flights, in which Eilat hotels participate.

In the future, according to Minister of Tourism Yariv Levin, Israel counts on 4 million tourists.
