The Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called will deliver to Moscow a Holy Fire from Jerusalem

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, on April 7, 2018, on the eve of the Orthodox Easter, the delegation of the Andrew the First-Called Foundation will deliver the Holy Fire from the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Jerusalem to Moscow for the Easter Patriarchal Divine Service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The delegation will be headed by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Andrew the First-Called Foundation Vladimir Ivanovich Yakunin and the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, Bishop of Krasnogorsk Irinarkh, Vicar of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.

Traditionally, the delegation of the Andrew the First-Called Foundation will include public and state figures, clergymen, cultural figures, journalists and businessmen. A total of about 100 people. Among them are the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Olga Epifanova, State Duma deputies Anatoly Aksakov, the Russian traveler archpriest Fedor Konyukhov, the rector of the Moscow Conservatory Alexander Sokolov, the head of the FMBA of Russia Vladimir Uiba and others.
 
 
 

 
The bringing of the Holy Fire into the limits of the Russian Orthodox Church is carried out within the framework of the program of the Andrew the First-Called Foundation "Ask the World for Jerusalem". This annual peacekeeping program has been implemented since 2003. An important component of this initiative is the prayer for peace in the Holy Land. The delegation of the Andrew the First-Called Foundation, together with the Patriarch of Jerusalem, prays for peace in the Holy Land. The prayer for peace in the Holy Land is also read in the temples of the Russian Orthodox Church.

On April 7, on Great Saturday, members of the delegation will become participants in the litany of Holy Fire in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. Millions of viewers of NTV and radio listeners of Radio Russia in Russia and CIS countries will also witness this unique service at the Jerusalem Temple of the Resurrection of Christ. Special Flight of Holy Fire will be delivered to Moscow for the beginning of the Easter Patriarchal Divine service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and will be handed over to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

Traditionally hundreds of believers meet the delegation at the Vnukovo airport, after which they deliver the Holy Fire to the temples of Moscow, the Moscow region and other regions of Russia.

During the Bright Week, fire will be available at the office of the Andrew the First-Called Foundation at: ul. Pokrovka, 42, p. 5-5a (from 9 am to 6 pm). Those who wish to receive Holy Fire need to have their own lamps.

Annually the Holy Fire is delivered to thousands of parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Russia, countries of near and far abroad. It is expected that in 2018 Holy Fire will be delivered to Arkhangelsk, Baku, Barnaul, Belgorod, to Valaam, Volgograd, Voronezh, Vladivostok, Grozny, Ekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Kemerovo, Kostroma, Krasnoyarsk, Kurgan, Kursk, London, Makhachkala, Lipetsk, Magadan, Magas, Murmansk, New York, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Orel, Orenburg, Perm, Pskov, Riga, Rostov-on-Don, Ryazan, Samara, St. Petersburg, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Saratov, Smolensk, Syktyvkar , Sevastopol, Simferopol, Tallinn, Tambov, Tula, Ulyanovsk, Khabarovsk, Chita, Cheboksary, Yuzhno-S halinsk, Yakutsk, Yaroslavl and other cities.

It is also planned to deliver Holy Fire to Great Britain, Germany, Italy, the United States and Estonia.
