Gethsemane is an integral part of the Biblical story. Here are such important and significant shrines as the Tomb of the Mother of God, the Church of All Nations of the famous Italian architect Antonio Barlucia on the site of the Catholic order of the Franciscans, with part of the preserved ancient Gethsemane garden, the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Mary Magdalene, built in 1888. At the top of the Mount of Olives is the Spaso-Voznesensky Russian Convent, which was founded at the end of the 19th century by the famous ascetics of piety, Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin).
