International conference on the theme of “Jerusalem in Russian spiritual tradition” is to be held in Jerusalem on November 1st and 2nd, 2005.

Russian Academy of Sciences. Scientific Council on the "Role of religion in history". The Pilgrimage Center in Moscow. Scholars from the Russian Academy of Sciences and educational institutions in Moscow and Saint Petersburg (such as the Moscow State University), as well as representatives of foreign academic establishments and Israeli scholars from Hebrew, Haifa, Bar Ilan Universities, Tel Hai Academic College, and Beit Berl Pedagogical Institute in Kfar Saba, are to participate in the conference.

     The conference will reflect on the history of the Russian presence in the Holy Land; lectures will be given on various themes of Palestine studies, art history, Biblical archaeology and religion studies. Discussions may take place after each lecture.
     The conference will be held on the 4th floor of the Hebrew University (Mount Scopus campus) in the Meersdorf Auditorium and will open on November 1st at 10:00 a.m.
     The “Russia in colors” Society in Jerusalem is handling organizational questions of the conference on the Israeli side.
