The First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York headed the celebration of the Znamensky Synodal Cathedral in New York

The feast day of the Znamensky Synodal Cathedral - in honor of the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, began at the All-Night Vigil on Saturday, December 9th. On Sunday, December 10, the Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the mountains. New York was led by Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad. On the patronal feast, a clergyman of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, deacon Roman Gultyaev, who was ordained to this diocese in this cathedral, arrived at Znamensky Cathedral. During the Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion ordained him to the office of presbyter. Upon completion of the service with a sermon on the history of the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, Fr. Tikhon (Gayfudinov). The bishops and clergy performed a short moleben singing before the Kursk Root Icon. Numerous believers on this day confessed and received Holy Communion of the Holy Mysteries.
 
Metropolitan Hilarion congratulated the clergy, parishioners and guests on the patronal feast and said: "Today we glorify the Most Pure Virgin Mary, which protects us, especially through its ancient icon, the Kursk Root, that has been with us abroad since 1920. We thank the Lord God that He, through the prayers of His Most Pure Mother, sends us spiritual help, correction and spiritual and bodily healing. " Vladyka Metropolitan thanked the hierarchs, the clergy and all the arrivals who shared the joy of the holiday, and wished everyone God's help, strength of strength and God's grace for spiritual growth.
 
Metropolitan Hilarion celebrated the merits of the workers of the cathedral and awarded Catherine Penchuk Grabbe, Svetlana Yakushin, Tamara Angelo, Elena Sokolovskaya and Elena Bakanin with the Archbishop's letters.
 
Addressing Metropolitan Hilarion, Bishop Nikolai congratulated him and with his personal celebration - on the 33rd anniversary of the episcopal consecration, which he received from the hands of the blessed memory of Metropolitan Filaret (Voznesensky, +1985) and a host of bishops. "This grace is felt by your fellow hierarchs, our clergy and our flock," said Vladyka Nikolai, "I wish that our holy icon" Hodegetria "is always present in your life so that the covering of the Mother of God will always cover you .You often travel around the world , but God is with you, and with you our prayers. Sisterhood of the cathedral invited the bishops, clergy and guests to a festive meal in the cathedral hall, where the informal dialogue of the participants in the patronal feast of the Synodal Cathedral continued.
